Seriously? Do we have to hear that we, the people of USA, now live in a police state and no longer the democracy of our past, actually hear it from Canada?
The LA situation, the DC "parade", have established that we, too, now have a "dear leader" like N. Korea & Russia. We are the "dissidents." Aren't there way more of us, than the "king's men"? Show up
Dear fellow dissidents,
My apologies.
I’ve been attending a music festival for the past few days in a remote area where I was not on line.
Even though I wanted to stay for the entire festival, I had already planned to cut it short and get back home in time to attend our local
**** NO KINGS PROTEST RALLY **** (Scroll down for details about the rally in Ft Bragg from 11AM to 1PM.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once I watched the 10 minute video below, I understand our stark reality here in the U.S. after MAGATrump deployed CA National Guard against the Governor’s constitutional right to control our Guard’s deployment.
Against the Governor’s explicit demand to NOT deploy the CA Guard.
And, now that we’ve actually seen active duty Marines deployed AGAINST the people of our own country
I’m feeling like an anvil dropped in my gut.
If you have 10 minutes, this video is a must.
Former Canadian Member of Parliament Charlie Angus gave a 9-minute speech that started with one strong statement after another.
“This morning I offer my deep concern, solidarity and prayers to the people of California, who are out in the streets, unarmed, defending the rule of law, against illegal kidnapping and deportation. And they are being faced down by the military might of the United States Marines.
We’re not talking about creeping fascism here, this is full-on police state tyranny from the gangster president Donald Trump.
…We have to stop kidding ourselves and we have to be very honest about what we are being asked to engage with.
Donald Trump poses a clear threat to democracy, to Canadian sovereignty, and to the international rule of law.”
“This morning I will lay out a straight forward indictment of Donald Trump’s threats, not just to his own people, and not just to Canada, but to the international rule of law.”
Donald Trump has
laid 100 attacks on Canada
continued to defend the war crimes of Putin, at the expense of the US and its allies
continues to attack the people of Ukraine, and the people of Canada
From Carolyn: As much as I want to simply live quietly in my retirement, now I’ve got to take action, more than ever, to spread the word
We. are. living. in. a. fascist. regime.
And, we cannot go down without a fight.
How can we allow our little grandchildren to grow up in a police state, and think it is normal because they haven’t experienced anything else?
It’s not creeping authoritarianism any more.
It’s here.
OK, lots of people are going to say I’m over-reacting.
Have you looked around? At even one of the headlines?
Do we really have to hear it from a Canadian?
Are you alarmed? Feeling it’s futile? Now is the moment.
Elders, we must take action.
We are the oldest and we’ve lived through so much in our lifetime.
We can’t bend the knee.
The antidote to feeling futile,
feeling overwhelmed,
outraged,
scared,
is
to
take action.
NO KINGS DAY: Mendocino Coast Rises Up!
Saturday June 14, 11am to 1pm
Peaceful Protest on the Pacific Coast Highway!
We will spread out over a half-mile of sidewalk, from McDonald's to the Harbor Lite Lodge, on the east side of Highway One in Fort Bragg. This includes the Noyo Bridge, but also lots of sidewalk space on solid ground for folks who don't want to be on the bridge.
INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
Plan for the weather! It may be windy. Dress warmly and make sure you can handle your sign in windy conditions – especially if you plan to stand on the bridge.
Please stay on the sidewalks, not in the roadway. Cross the highway only at the two stoplights at Ocean Drive and Cypress Street.
Be aware that the speed limit is higher at this location than it is downtown. Consider leaving dogs at home this time unless you are very confident that they will be under your control.
Parking is limited near the protest site.
Carpool if you can; drivers can drop people in the loop between A-Frame Espresso and McDonald’s.
Disabled participants may park in the lot between A-Frame Espresso and McDonald’s. There are 16 spots available; please do not use the spots closest to the professional building; the tenants that are open Saturdays need those.
You may park in the large lot at Mendocino College, 1211 Del Mar Drive. It’s a 3-block walk to the McDonald’s end of the site, and a 6-block walk to the bridge.
There is street parking in these areas:
West of the highway off Ocean Drive (cross at the light)
In the neighborhood immediately northeast of Harbor Lite Lodge
There is a dirt lot at the corner of N Harbor Drive & S Franklin St
If you can walk further:
Pomo Bluffs Park (cross the highway at Ocean Drive stoplight)
Noyo Headlands Park (cross the highway at Cypress Street stoplight)
Or even Noyo Beach, and climb the stairs to Harbor Lite Lodge
Please do not park on private property, including:
The grassy area between A-Frame and McDonald’s
The Boatyard shopping center
Other business parking lots
P.S. We’ve been asked why this event isn’t being held in downtown Fort Bragg. It’s because June 14 is also the annual Rodders car show, which uses downtown streets and is a benefit for the Mendocino Coast Children’s Fund. It’s an event we support and we did not see a way to hold a large protest without seriously impacting it. We carefully considered a number of alternate locations and chose the south end of town as the best combination of safety and visibility.
For people in my neighborhood:
